Who said whiskey can’t take a tropical vacation? This bright and tropical Bee’s Knees variation combines bourbon with a little honey, lemon and our Guava Cinnamon Orange Shrub. You can sub rye or scotch for a slightly dryer, spicier version.
CAYUCOS
2 oz bourbon or rye
1/2 oz Cool Hand Co. Guava Cinnamon Orange Shrub
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz honey syrup (equal parts honey & water)
1 dash Angostura bitters (optional)
Shake with ice and strain into glass.
Our Winter seasonal release is a collaboration with Nopalito Farm in Valley Center, California. We produce this shrub December - March in limited quantities.
It starts with 3 varieties of organic guavas and valencia oranges from the farm, crushed and macerated whole with organic cinnamon sticks in our base of organic apple cider vinegar and cane sugar. Juicy guava flavors are complemented by the bright acidity and essential oils of fresh whole oranges, with a bunch of festive holiday spice on the back end from crushed cinnamon sticks. This shrub is an obvious choice for tiki-style drinks, but is just as fun and delicious with tequila, whiskey, or nonalcoholic drinks.. It’s our all time favorite so don’t miss out when the season comes around.
For Cocktails: Add ½ oz shrub to 2 oz spirit plus soda or citrus
For Shrub Sodas: Mix ½ oz shrub per 6 oz bubbly water
Ingredients: Organic Guavas, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Oranges, Organic Cinnamon Sticks, Salt.
